ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL TRAJECTORY
"Navigare necesse; vivere non est necesse" - Latin, phrase from Pompey, Roman general, 106-48 BC
"Sailing is necessary; living is not necessary" - Fernando Pessoa
A long time ago, I decided to dedicate my career to helping people achieve a better quality of life. Since my adolescence, I focused on education and became a teacher at 19. Throughout my career, I have taught at all levels, from preschool to graduate school. During this time, I had the opportunity to teach and experience my students' lives firsthand. I remember many journeys, positive moments, challenges, achievements, and, above all, the demands that go beyond the responsibilities of teachers and schools.

Being a teacher has given me the incredible privilege of interacting directly with thousands of people at various stages of their lives and across a variety of aspects of human development. These experiences sparked my interest in exploring beyond the classroom and the school environment. It became clear to me that I needed to dedicate my life to understanding thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and human relationships more specifically.

So, in 2006, I left Campinas, São Paulo, and moved to Curitiba, Paraná, determined to study Psychology while simultaneously pursuing a full-time Biblical Theology degree. This decision was a true leap in the dark, especially financially. I faced many obstacles along the way, from adapting to a new city and state to the complexity of clinical cases. After graduating, the day I received my first Professional Psychologist certificate (by then already married for two years), I agreed to move again to the countryside of Paraná. Taking on technical responsibility for the treatment of adolescents due to drug use and criminal behavior in situations of great social vulnerability was challenging!

However, each challenge I faced became an extremely valuable lesson. These experiences opened doors to a rich and diverse career, both in private and public services. I began my first postgraduate degree with my wife, Monique, and we moved to another city in the same state, where she began a master's degree but decided to interrupt it to return to São Paulo. In 2013, I participated in the National Social Assistance Conference in Brasília as a Delegate for the state of São Paulo, while also serving as a CREAS coordinator. In Public Health, I worked in health services focused exclusively on adolescents and in CAPS (Special Care Centers). Even faced with a lack of resources and the despair of people suffering intensely due to multiple, often chronic, challenges, it was possible to find purpose in adversity and recognize the need to learn more.

Therefore, in pursuit of new knowledge, I never stopped studying. I completed four postgraduate degrees: the first in Mental Health, an Interdisciplinary Master's degree from the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp), an Advanced Specialization in Family Psychology from the University of Coimbra (Portugal), and a postgraduate degree in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy from CBI - Miami (USA). Furthermore, I am certified as a "Gottman Seven Principles Leader" to offer a workshop that strengthens couples' relationships, based on over 50 years of research from the Gottman Institute in Seattle (USA). This is not to mention the training, education, and refresher courses I continue to attend. I explored new places and had experiences in various regions of Brazil and internationally that go beyond theory.
Since returning to Brazil in 2019, I have dedicated myself exclusively to working as a Clinical Psychologist. Currently, through my own company, I offer services that integrate the specialties of other healthcare professionals. I provide online psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, conduct psychodiagnostic assessments for ADHD in adults, and treat various mental disorders for Brazilians in Europe, the United States, and throughout Brazil.
My practice integrates knowledge acquired in education, lived experience, and technical-scientific knowledge grounded in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Family Science. This unique combination combines the characteristics of the educational process with the specificity of psychological treatment. The challenges I've overcome throughout my career enable me to offer an innovative and effective perspective to help people face their challenges, achieve well-being with emotional balance, and improve their interpersonal relationships.
